Dr Algarni graduated with MBBS degree from King Saud university. He obtained his Saudi board of internal medicine followed by Saudi fellowship in medical oncology . He became a subspecialist affiliate with royal college of physicians and surgeons ,Canada after finishing medical oncology residency program at Mcmaster university followed by a fellowship in gastrointestinal malignancies and clinical cancer genetics .

Dr Algarni is a consultant of medical oncology and clinical cancer genetics since 2017 at KAMC-Riyadh -Ministry of national guard health affairs . He is the founding section head of cancer control division as well as the first oncology based cancer genetic program in the kingdom. He has a Joint appointment as assistant professor at king Saud bin abdulaziz university for health sciences. He was the Director of the medical oncology fellowship program . Dr. Algarni is a member of various committees. He is the chairman of the medical oncology fellowship training central committee and member of the scientific committee for medical oncology fellowship at SCFHS. He is a member of the scientific committee for Saudi cancer registry . He is the chairman of the MENA -NCCN committee for genetic and familial high risk assessment guidelines adaptation.
